Preparing For Your Trial With Glamour Brides

Introduction

A bridal hair and makeup trial is an exciting and essential step in your wedding preparations. It gives you a chance to envision your look for the big day—whether you’re standing at the altar, sharing vows, or having your first dance. Life’s daily demands, from late nights to extra coffee, can make it tough to look and feel your absolute best. But with a few pre-wedding self-care habits and a clear idea of your style, our team will help you achieve a radiant look that leaves a lasting impression. One that you’ll look back through the photo albums with a smile.

Aligning Your Style With Your Dress

One of the best ways to create your wedding look is to complement your chosen dress with a hairstyle that elevates it. If you already have your dress or a particular silhouette in mind, visualize your entire look from head to toe. Are you leaning towards voluminous waves to balance a fitted gown? Or perhaps a sleek bun to highlight your neck and add elegance to your posture? Whatever your vision, we’ll help you design a style that complements your dress and makes you feel fabulous.

Embrace Your Preferences With Confidence

Your trial should be a calm, enjoyable experience where you can explore and refine your bridal look. Over our 20 years of experience, we’ve found that brides who narrow their preferences to one or two favourite styles feel more confident and satisfied. If you’re not sure what you want, try identifying what you don’t want. For instance, if your wedding has a rustic, understated theme, a simple, natural look with loose waves or a soft ponytail might be ideal—there’s no need to test bold, glamorous styles if they don’t align with your vision. Stay true to yourself and remember that your style is all about you.

Hydrate, Sleep & Prep

There’s no secret here – Getting enough sleep, drinking plenty of water, and feeling rested will help you look fresh and radiant. Start by drinking water regularly to keep your skin plump and glowing. Washing your hair the day before your trial also works best, as “second-day hair” is more receptive to styling than freshly washed locks.

Keep Your Skin Clear

For optimal results, keep your skin bare and free of heavy products on trial day. If possible, avoid skin or hair products for 12 hours prior to your trial to let natural oils rebalance, which enhances both skin and hair texture. That said, you can continue using your regular skincare essentials, such as moisturizers and anti-aging creams.

Bring Accessories

If you have accessories you’ll wear on your wedding day, bring them to the trial! Hair clips, headpieces, and veils are all important parts of your look, so incorporating them now helps us refine your style and ensure everything works seamlessly together.

Some of our Brides like to dress in colours that help them visualise the look – For example nude, white and light beige colour tops!

Gather Your Inspiration

If you’ve already saved photos or magazine clippings for inspiration, bring those along too! We love collaborating with brides on a specific vision. Visuals help our team understand your style goals and bring your desired look to life.

Be Time-Smart

Managing your trial time well is key to a successful experience. Trials generally last up to two hours, which gives you ample time to try two different styles and make any tweaks. Keep in mind that each style typically takes 40–60 minutes, so it’s best to focus on the styles you’re genuinely interested in, rather than testing a variety that could lead to confusion. At Glamour Brides, our two-hour trial offers a comfortable pace to refine two distinct looks.

Be Vocal

One of the most crucial parts of your trial is sharing your thoughts openly. Let us know what you love, what you’re unsure about, and any adjustments you’d like along the way. This communication creates a strong partnership between you and your stylist, helping us craft a look that feels authentic and beautiful. Remember, silence can lead to misunderstandings, so embrace this moment to express your true preferences.

Enjoy The Experience

Above all, have fun and savour this special part of your wedding journey! Try to keep your schedule light on trial day, so you can relax and focus on yourself without distractions. Your trial is meant to be an enjoyable, stress-free experience, so take a deep breath, smile, and enjoy each step toward creating your dream bridal look
